You had me hooked. Start to finish. Also obsessed with your writing. The way you play with words...

Impulse shopping feeling quick and dirty is perfect way to describe it. Like a drunk hookup or one night stand lol. It’s not true romance

This was a beautiful essay and is speaking to precisely where I am at the moment. Current culture doesn’t reward waiting or prolonging the moment and it’s easy to trick ourselves into thinking “I have to get it now because I’ll never find it again!” The lushness of your writing was perfect for a rom-com comparison!

Great story on shopping and working in the fashion industry. You want all the new fashion at your job and look up to date plus the discount or free clothes which is all good. Then you thought about is this really my style or I am just buying this to buy this. Gives everyone time to think what clothes they want to but just for themselves and not to fill their closet either.

Oh I loved this so much. I need to do more of this. And In the Mood for Love is a favorite of mine, maybe I'll rewatch this weekend.

Loved this. As someone trying to overcome a the constant impulse to shop and consume AND as a lover of romance, this spoke to me on so many levels. There are things on my wishlist that have been there for a year or two now and I’m enjoying letting them linger and wait for a while until I’m ready to return to them ♥️

I’m this way about jewelry: Then, finally, if and when the time is right — there’s no formula, just a feeling of certainty — I let it find me and take the plunge.

I loved this, reminds me of when I leave something behind in a second hand store and mull about it for a week and then find it a week later, like it was waiting for me to return. I don’t like the instant gratification of shopping, something has to feel like an old friend, I have to stay in the changing room for an hour trying the same things over and over again until it feels right or wrong.
